Born in Venice in 1956, Giorgio Gosetti is a journalist, cultural event organizer and film festival programmer and director. He has taught event management at the University of Bologna’s Department of Music and Performing Arts since 2004.
The festivals he has founded and directed include: Antennacinema, Mysftest, the Rome Film Festival, the Reykjavik International Film Festival (main programmer), Noir in Festival (of which he is currently the artistic director in Courmayeur), and Venice Days (which he currently heads at the Venice Film Festival as General Delegate).
Gosetti served as vice-director of the Venice Film Festival from 1992 to 1996, and then as director of Italia Cinema, the agency promoting Italian film abroad (now Filmitalia) from 1999 to 2004. He has written extensively about Marguerite Duras, Alfred Hitchcock, Luigi Comencini, Allan Dwan and Orson Welles, among others, and has published monographs on classic and contemporary film noirs as well as the depiction of journalism on the silver screen (Print the Legend). He lives and works in Rome.
